We are here in San Jose, far cooler than Fresno, but still pretty hot. After all, it is the 4th! Happy Independence Day to all on our nation’s 239th birthday!
I am attending the Music Teachers Association of California convention here at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose (and visiting three grandchildren, too!). We just got word that the first DVD’s of Quiltings, a new piano work I wrote on 118 quilts of my sister-in-law Ann Harwell, will be here tomorrow and available for purchase. I will present the Astronomy Gallery, eight of the last nine pieces of this suite, on Monday, July 6th, 2015, at 1:00 pm for the convention attendees; if you’re there, please come and join us for this pre-release!
We have been enjoying some great workshops (sostenuto pedal in Debussy Etudes, music of living women composers) and phenomenal performances by piano students from all around California. I am proud to be a part of MTAC, especially our Fresno branch!
