C15 Divertimento (1979)
Scored for 4 trumpets, 4 horns in F, 3 trombones, tuba, and 2 pianos.
In three movements. It opens with a concise and lively Intrada, which features fugal writing for all instruments. The second movement is a monumental Adagio starting off with just the two pianos and building to a climax with all the instruments, then ending with muted trumpets and pianos. After a stirring Vivace introduction, the third movement closes with a theme and variations. Published by MMB Music. Duration: 13′. Price: $39.95.

A tone-poem based on the Luke 24:13-35 narrative on the disciples’ walk to Emmaus and their encounter with the risen Lord enroute. The slow opening section gives way to a rousing fugue celebrating the newfound joy of the disciples in seeing Jesus Christ again and running back to Jerusalem to tell the good news. Jubilee was written for my younger brother Joshua to celebrate his fiftieth birthday. Besides marking this important milestone, Jubilee also points to the great festival to be observed every 50 years in Israel (Leviticus 25:8-55) that forgave debts, freed slaves and returned each family to its ancestral property. Representing all of God’s creation, the rainforest and its riches of life are celebrated in this work, which also mourns the wanton destruction of the rainforest by mankind and envisions its recreation by God through the Cross of Jesus Christ.
